2-Year Old Preschool Class
The toddler environment is a fun and playful place where children are invited to explore and learn at their own pace, while being cared for by the highly trained and nurturing directresses. There are approximately 14 children in this age-group. Once they reach the age year in which they turn 3, they move over to the main environment.
3-6 Year Old Preschool Class
Little Star accommodates approximately 40 children in the 3-6 year old environment. Children of all ages are together in this section and are guided to age appropriate activities.
A day at Little Star
A day at Little Star begins with "line time". It is signalled by the sound of calming, classical music as the children gather, form circles (indicated by a line on the floor) and walk around the circle before sitting, quietening their minds and participating in a conversation about the day to come.
The children then move around the environment and are guided and lead through activities which lay the ground for maths, the sciences, culture. language and more.
The children do movement, ballet, sports, pottery, and music within the school as part of the paid-for curriculum.
COVID-19
As with most things in our lives, Covid has changed the way a typical day runs at Little Star. The children are now split into smaller groups and we offer an afternoon session so that every child gets the same amount of at-school time.
The children have adjusted exceptionally well to all the changes. Santising in the morning and maintaining social distance has become their normal and hasn't interfered with the joy of learning and playing and seeing their friends.
Please be aware that this is an ever evolving situation and things often need to change but the school will always follow the most stringent rules for the safety of your child and our teachers.
